Chiniak Bay Kayak Trip

A full day exploring Kodiak's wildlife, sealife, landscapes and seascapes from the cockpit of your kayak.   Watch nesting puffins on a grassy cliff, cormorants  comfortably perched on an impossibly steep rock face, see a humpback whale in full breach, watch salmon leap from the water as they near spawning time, photograph a sea otter eating shellfish. Legendary whale encounters that have become OU's trademark have occurred in these waters.  No sightings are guaranteed, but our chances of encountering an array of wildlife are very good. Catered lunch included.    Rates   What to Bring (.pdf)

Let's take a day to explore of one of Kodiak's most unique locations--Anton Larsen Bay.  A forty-five-minute drive through a mountain pass from Kodiak city to the kayak launch, ALB offers pristine wilderness, distinctive geology, sheltered waters, and frequent sightings of Arctic Terns and Parakeet Auklets (through mid July) in addition to Kodiak's more abundant sea birds.  Though fin whales occasionally venture close to ALB, they are commonly observed from a distance across Kizhuyak bay.  Frequent sightings of harbor seals & sea otters round out the possibilities for this six-hour trip.  Catered lunch included.   Rates   What to Bring (.pdf)

Deposits & Delays

Deposit rates are 50% payable by check, credit card (Visa/MC) or bank transfer, fully refundable up to 30 days in advance of the charter, after which it becomes nonrefundable.

For charters and guided trips originating from the city of Kodiak, severe weather may cause  cancellation with full refund of deposit on the day of the trip.  Cancellations result as a result of unsafe, not simply uncomfortable weather.  The captain alone reserves the right to cancel an outing.

In case of cancellation:  Guests may have the option of rescheduling their trip, or in certain cases, relocating a Marmot Bay Mothership Kayak Trip to Anton Larsen Bay if conditions there permit paddling.  Guests may otherwise request a refund.

Multi-day charters extended due to severe weather incur an additional fee of 50% of the daily rate per person.
